Howard’s Fine Jewelry began in 1948 when Irving Siegel named the store after his son, Howard. Howard’s started on the corner of 8 Mile and Van Dyke as a store that sold a little bit of everything: vacuums, fertilizer, paint, appliances, and, of course, jewelry. Mr. Siegel was one of the first discounters in the state of Michigan. He retired in 2008 at the age of 90 and sold the business to Sako Ghazarian.
